Nasstacia Speed of PLR Counseling, LLC is a DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). As your SAP, my goal is to provide direct services to aid employees who have violated DOT Drug and Alcohol requirements. These services consist of evaluations, consultations, and recommendations for the return-to-duty process.
Substance Abuse Professional (SAPs) are required to obtain one of the following credentials such as a Licensed physician (Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy), Licensed or certified psychologist, Licensed or certified social worker, Licensed or certified employee assistance professional, State-licensed or certified marriage and family therapist, or Certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor by the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (IC&RC) (U.S. Department of Transportation, 2023). SAPs must adhere to the Continuing Education Requirements by completing twelve (12) hours of training every three (3) years.
“SAPs do not act as advocates for either the employer or the employee but rather focus on public safety. They determine if an employee has successfully complied with recommendations, allowing the employer to decide on re-entry into safety-sensitive roles” (Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) | US Department of Transportation, 2025).
